FAQ

What is the time investment of the Empowerwoment project?

Participants will have a weekly time investment of about 75 to 105 minutes. Sometimes, the time investment will be a bit higher. In the weeks that we’re reading books, participants will need to read a lot of pages. They’ll probably spend more than 105 minutes a week then.

What does the chairwoman do in the Empowerwoment Project?

The chairwoman is the one that ‘leads’ the meetings. She makes sure that everybody gets a chance to speak up and ask questions. She is also the timekeeper and ensures that the peer group environment is safe.

When does the Empowerwoment Project start?

You can decide for yourself when to start with the Empowerwoment Project. Everything is set and ready for you, so you will be able to start right away. From experience, getting all participants together for a peer group meeting will take a little planning. Just because the agenda always seems to be packed. It would be wise to plan those meetings.

You need two books in modules 3 and 4. We’ll send those over to you as soon as you apply and pay your invoice. However, you won’t need them until the 7th week of the project.

How many people can participate?

There is no limit to how many women can participate in the Empowerwoment Project. However, a peer group of more than six women will probably be too large. I would advise you to compose multiple peer groups if more than six women want to participate.

More than six women in a peer group will be too large because of the time investment for participants. They will have to read the assignments of all of their peer group members and give feedback. That’ll become too much work.

Another reason to maximize a peer group at 6 is that it will be much harder to have a fruitful and safe discussion in the peer group meetings if the group becomes too large.

If you have more than one peer group in the organization, you’ll also have access to extra help and support from Marieke (as each chairwoman gets extra coaching).

Why is the Empowerwoment Project solely focused on women?

As women are severely underrepresented in leadership positions, this project aims to empower women and make a positive difference.

What about transwomen, women of color, and women of the LGBTQ+ community?

This project is suitable for everybody who identifies as a woman, as the program is focused on the problems women encounter in their careers. That could be cis-gender women, but also transwomen.

Women of color, transwomen and members of the LGBTQ+ community face many more difficulties than heterosexual cis-gender women. Although the program is suitable for everyone, it will most definitely not be able to tackle all challenges women of color, transwomen, and women of the LGBTQ+ community face sufficiently.

What happens after I buy the package for my organization?

After you fill out the form, you’ll receive an email with an invoice. Once you pay the invoice, you’ll be able to grant access to the number of participants you applied with to the Empowerwoment course environment. We’ll send you two books for all participants via mail.

You can start with the program any time you want to. You only need to have your group of women excited and ready to start
